- The Office of Senate Curator considers requests for high-resolution images of U.S. Senate Collection items for one-time use only, for educational or historical purposes. The Office does not provide images for promotional, campaign, or commercial purposes.
- Credit line should read “U.S. Senate Collection” for art and objects. All room views obtained from the Office of Senate Curator should be credited “U.S. Senate Commission on Art.”
- Cropping of images is not permitted. Alteration of images is not permitted.
- All requests for image use in future editions or renewals must be submitted in writing as a separate request.
- Telephone requests and rush service are not available. There is a 3-week minimum processing period for image requests.
- There are no permission fees associated with the use of U.S. Senate Collection images.
- A copy of the final publication, forwarded to the Office of Senate Curator, S-411, The Capitol, Washington, D.C. 20510, is encouraged.
If you would like to request a high resolution image from the U.S. Senate Collection, kindly submit your request by completing and e-mailing the Official Request Form to curator@sec.senate.gov.
- Materials in the U.S. Senate Collection include original and copy photographs created from countless sources, including newspaper staff, wire services, commercial photo studios, publicity photo distributors, and amateur photographers, many of which may be restricted by copyright.
- It is the requester’s obligation to determine and satisfy copyright or other use restrictions when publishing or otherwise distributing materials found in the U.S. Senate Collection. Transmission or reproduction of protected items beyond that allowed by fair use requires the written permission of the copyright owners. Requesters must make their own assessments of rights in light of their intended use.
- The U.S. Senate is not responsible for violation of copyright by an author, publisher, or any other user of images from the U.S. Senate Collection, nor does it assume responsibility for any claims resulting from the failure of users to secure reproduction rights.
